Each year the PTA Executive Board organizes ad-hoc committees to manage the implementation of school programs and initiatives. There is a committee for almost everything. Committees generally meet once a month but determine their own meeting cadence. The more parent/guardian involvement in committees, the more the school benefits.

Each Committee will have one Chair who will work with volunteers and select sub-chairs as needed and will act as the main liaison communicating updates directly to the PTA Executive Board on the committee’s behalf.

Fundraising Events

The Fundraising Committee develops the strategy behind reaching our fundraising goals through events and other revenue-driving activities. This extremely important committee comprises three distinct functions, Marathon Fun Day, the Auction/Spring Benefit, Staff Appreciation and the Donation Committee.

Social Committee

Get our school community together, encouraging engagement while creating opportunities to strengthen community ties. Our Social committee is responsible for school dances, movie nights, progressive dinner, off campus student events through local partnerships, adult only socializing and much more!

Merchandise

Support our fundraising school spirit initiatives by managing our digital storefront on Bonfire, helping to select new product designs to feature and sell physical merchandise at select PS 118 Social events.

Equity Committee

At PS 118, we strive to create an inclusive, respectful environment where all students, staff and families feel represented while also expanding our students’ knowledge and understanding of their community and world. Through our Adult Equity Group, we host events, partner with organizations like CHiPS and support ongoing learning to build a more equitable, connected school community.

Marketing, PR & Communications Committee

Work closely with the school through one of our various Marketing functions to promote and boost PS 118’s enrollment, leverage Social Media to expand our presence and communicate with the membership, support School Tours, help maintain and update the website and participate in Q+A for prospective parents.

In School Activities

Support the students of PS 118 through a robust variety of in-school enrichments such as Picture Day, Yearbook, Read-a-Thon, Meet the Author, tending to our garden, organizing after-school programs and any other activity you think will brighten our children’s year.

Help keep our students healthy and safe by recruiting volunteers for Street Closures during drop-off/pick-up and scheduling Lice Checks.

Internal PTA

This committee helps provide meaningful and critical support to the PTA Executive Board’s functions through the Budget & Audit Committee, Nominating Committee and Legal & Bylaws Committee.
